History of Sticks Up

Sticks Up was founded by two families — the Courtrights and the Douviers — brought together by a shared love of lacrosse and their three boys who play the game. Like many lacrosse families, they quickly realized there were limited apparel options designed specifically for young lacrosse players who wanted gear that reflected their passion for the sport and their identity on and off the field.

Instead of waiting for someone else to create it, the young lacrosse players decided they want to build it themselves.

With the Douvier family having relatives owning and operating a business specializing in screen printing and embroidery, the opportunity to create high-quality, original lacrosse apparel became a natural fit. Sticks Up was born from a desire to create apparel that kids actually want to wear — gear that represents the energy, toughness, and pride that come with playing lacrosse.

The name Sticks Up comes directly from the boys’ coach, Daren, who constantly reminds players to keep their “STICKS UP” while playing defense — a simple phrase that represents effort, awareness, and playing the game the right way. That mindset became the foundation of the brand.

The families behind Sticks Up also share a deep love for their country, which is why many of the designs and the brand’s logo carry patriotic elements. It’s a reflection of their values: hard work, teamwork, respect, and pride in both sport and country.

Sticks Up is more than apparel — it’s built by lacrosse families, for lacrosse families.
